To keep ice from melting quickly, use a clean insulated ice bucket, chill the bucket before filling it, keep the lid closed, and place it away from sunlight, ovens, hot serving equipment, and warm outdoor surfaces. Large, solid ice cubes also last longer than small or crushed ice because less surface area is exposed to surrounding heat.
